The ABA League has confirmed that club executives held a Zoom meeting during which important decisions were made for the upcoming season.
The league is expected to expand to 20 teams next season, with wild cards to be granted. Some of the clubs being considered as new participants include Hapoel Tel Aviv, Cluj, and Vienna.
Cibona and Mornar are not expected to participate in the ABA League next season.
,,The Assembly of the ABA League j.t.d. expressed great satisfaction with the strong interest shown by renowned clubs in joining the 1. ABA League, which, according to a previous decision of the Assembly, may include a maximum of 20 clubs starting from the 2025/26 season.
With this goal in mind, the Assembly of the ABA League j.t.d. adopted clear guidelines and decisions regarding the allocation of wild cards to clubs outside the region, based on which negotiations with all interested parties will continue, with the aim of finalizing the list of participants for the 2025/26 season as soon as possible.
Based on the excellent business performance, the Assembly of the ABA League j.t.d. unanimously decided to distribute profits to all members of the Company in equal amounts, in accordance with the realized profit. This decision also clearly reaffirms the position of the ABA League j.t.d. as a unique sports-business project in the region and beyond.
In conclusion, the Assembly of the ABA League j.t.d. has adopted a new ABA League 2 competition system, which will be revealed to the public in due time.”
