Anadolu Efes vs Panathinaikos Preview
Anadolu Efes pulled off a huge comeback to defeat Panathinaikos in Game 2 in Athens and will now have the chance to close out the series in Istanbul. Two more wins are still needed, and it will be no easy task for Luca Banchi’s team. They are well aware that the reigning EuroLeague champions are coming to Turkey looking to strike back, and it will be crucial for Shane Larkin and his teammates to shine once again. So far in this quarterfinal matchup, Anadolu Efes has displayed a lot of offensive talent, and at times even managed to execute defensively, a rare sight during the regular season.
The aforementioned Larkin was the hero of Game 2, hitting the decisive three-pointer in the closing moments. Several other players have also left a fantastic impression in the series and will need to keep it up. Vincent Poirier delivered perhaps his two most mature performances of the entire season, while PJ Dozier orchestrated the offense at the start of the fourth quarter during Anadolu Efes’ comeback. Derek Willis had his best game of the season in the opener, and now additional players must step up in similar fashion. Ercan Osmani and Rolands Smits have the quality to contribute more, while Darius Thompson and Elijah Bryant must make more rational decisions.
Panathinaikos once again finds itself in an identical situation to 12 months ago, when they were tied 1-1 after two games against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague quarterfinals. Back then, they also failed to fully defend their home court and had to take the harder path to the Final Four. The paradox is that it looked like Panathinaikos might stumble in Game 1, but after a big fourth-quarter comeback, they pulled out the win. Two days later, they controlled the game for 30 minutes only to collapse down the stretch. Not even an incredible buzzer-beating three by Kostas Sloukas at the end of the third quarter was enough to save them.
The biggest room for improvement on Panathinaikos’ side lies with their superstar and EuroLeague MVP Kendrick Nunn, who hasn’t been as dominant as expected through the first two games. In Istanbul, he will need to fully showcase his quality. Juancho Hernangomez had a historically good Game 1 and will need to maintain that level. Sloukas also has room to improve, as does Lorenzo Brown, who has been quiet all season. Head coach Ergin Ataman must devise a strong game plan to capture a victory in an arena where he built years of success with Anadolu Efes.
Anadolu Efes vs Panathinaikos H2H

Anadolu Efes vs Panathinaikos Best Betting Tip and Prediction
The defensive intensity in this series has been much higher than anticipated before it began. Everyone knows that the stakes rise drastically in the playoffs, and much greater attention is given to defense. It’s also noticeable that the referees are allowing much more physical contact, which always benefits teams capable of imposing a tough style of play. Both previous games in Athens went under the posted points total, and we expect this trend to continue.
