Anthony Randolph is currently in Belgrade, where he recalled the famous series between Real Madrid and Partizan.
Anthony Randolph has fond memories of Belgrade, where he became a EuroLeague champion with the Spanish club in 2018. However, he also remembers the iconic EuroLeague quarterfinal series a few years later, in which Real Madrid eliminated Partizan after a dramatic comeback:
“I remember it as a great series. Honestly, if it hadn’t been for that incident, I think everything could have gone in a different direction. It happens — that’s part of the sport. We are all fully committed, we sacrifice a lot, we are far from our families, and emotions run high. There was no bad blood, neither between the clubs nor between the players. It was an unfortunate situation, but we moved on — and in the end, it all worked out in our favor,” Anthony Randolph told Meridian Sport.
With Randolph on the roster, the Slovenia national team became European champions in 2017. Luka Doncic was also part of that team, and the two later worked together at Real Madrid.
“He’s a once-in-a-generation player. What he’s doing in the NBA proves that, and the craziest part is that he can still get even better,” said the former Real Madrid player.
Randolph was selected 14th overall in the NBA Draft and spent six seasons in the world’s strongest league. He does not hide the fact that Nikola Jokic is one of his favorite players.
“One of my favorite players to watch. He plays basketball the right way,” Anthony Randolph emphasized.
