Hapoel Tel Aviv suffered a painful blow ahead of their clash against Real Madrid in the EuroLeague playoffs, specifically to Antonio Blakeney.
Hapoel Tel Aviv will face Real Madrid in the EuroLeague playoffs tonight in Game 4 of their quarterfinal series with a particularly depleted squad. The club announced this afternoon that Colin Malcolm and Itay Segev will be absent from the team’s roster. However, a particularly difficult piece of news came out, with an injury to guard Antonio Blakeney.
Blakeney, who was injured during the last quarter of the victory in Game 3 of the series, is suffering from a torn calf muscle. It is estimated that he will be out of action for at least a month and a half, and may not play again this season. Malcolm is suffering from a strained calf muscle and will be out for the next few weeks while Segev is suffering from a back injury.
In their absence, guard Yam Madar and Guy Platin, who were not on the roster for the previous game, are fit and will suit up. Blakeney had a brilliant performance in Game 1 scoring 25 points but combined for only 16 in the next two.
Hapoel Tel Aviv comes into the game trailing 2-1, knowing that a loss will end its EuroLeague season. Real Madrid is also dealing with their own injury problems – Walter Tavares will also be absent with a knee injury while Osman Garuba, who was injured in the first half of the previous match, is questionable to play.
