Asvel could reportedly sell Mbaye Ndiaye this offseason, just weeks after handing the Senegalese international a contract extension through 2029.
According to Thibaut Alex of Le Progres, the French club could decide to part ways with the 27-year-old forward, who is reportedly attracting significant interest from other teams.
“As for departures, the Villeurbanne club could decide to sell the highly sought-after Mbaye Ndiaye,” the journalist wrote.

Mbaye Ndiaye’s future at Asvel now uncertain
The situation is particularly notable because Asvel recently committed to Mbaye Ndiaye for the long term.
The club announced on July 8 that the Senegalese forward had signed a three-year contract extension, keeping him in Villeurbanne through the end of the 2028-29 season.
Ndiaye joined Asvel in 2023 from ADA Blois after making his debut in the LNB Pro A. During his final season with Blois in 2022-23, he averaged 10.1 points on 54.9% shooting, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 30 minutes per game.
His development was interrupted in December 2024 when he suffered a torn ACL in Belgrade. After returning to action, Ndiaye regained an important role in Asvel’s rotation during the 2025-26 season.
He averaged 9.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks in 29 LNB Pro A games, while also earning a place in the LNB All-Star Game.
In the EuroLeague, Ndiaye averaged 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists for an average PIR of 11 across 32 games, playing 23 minutes per contest.
Asvel’s offseason takes another turn
Asvel has already made several moves in its EuroLeague transactions, adding Joel Bolomboy, Patty Mills, Both Gach and Yves Pons ahead of the 2026-27 season.
However, the club’s offseason has also been marked by an extraordinary financial setback. Asvel initially signed Sylvain Francisco, Armoni Brooks and Nick Weiler-Babb, with all three expected to become important pieces of the roster.
The situation then changed dramatically after the club failed to secure the budget it had promised. Asvel was unable to maintain the financial commitments behind those deals, leading all three players to leave despite having only recently joined the team.
Francisco ultimately moved to Panathinaikos, Brooks joined Valencia on loan, while Weiler-Babb signed with Crvena Zvezda.
The unusual sequence has left Asvel dealing with a major roster rebuild, with players brought in as key additions departing after the club could not deliver the financial conditions originally expected. That financial uncertainty could also be a factor in Ndiaye’s situation.
