Asvel have added another experienced forward to their roster, signing Nate Sestina on a one-year contract ahead of the 2026-27 EuroLeague season.
The French club has been particularly active in reshaping its roster this summer, with Sestina becoming another addition to a team that will be led by Tony Parker next season.
The 29-year-old American stands at 2.05 meters and arrives with extensive European experience, having previously played for Fenerbahce, Valencia and Milano.
Nate Sestina joins ASVEL after difficult Milano season
Sestina spent the 2025-26 campaign with both Valencia and Milano.
He began the season in Spain before moving to Italy, where he joined Milano as a replacement for Vlatko Cancar. However, his first season with the Italian club was disrupted by an arm injury that required surgery.
The injury kept Sestina sidelined for approximately three months and limited him to just 10 EuroLeague appearances.
He averaged 3.1 points and 0.8 rebounds in eight minutes per game during his limited EuroLeague campaign.
After returning to action, Sestina re-entered Milano’s rotation but struggled to secure a consistent role. He was eventually not registered for the remainder of the Italian League season.
His move to Asvel now gives him an opportunity to rebuild his momentum and take on a more significant role in France.

Sestina previously impressed with Valencia
Before joining Milano, Sestina enjoyed an important role at Valencia during the 2024-25 season under head coach Pedro Martinez.
The American forward averaged 6.8 points and 3.0 rebounds in 18 minutes per game in the EuroCup, establishing himself as a reliable frontcourt option.
Sestina’s European career began even earlier, with the American making his EuroLeague debut with Fenerbahce during the 2023-24 season.
He appeared in 34 games that year, averaging 3.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 11 minutes per game, while shooting an impressive 39% from three-point range.
His ability to stretch the floor from the power forward position should give ASVEL another useful offensive option.
Asvel continue reshaping their roster
Sestina is one of several notable additions Asvel have made during the offseason.
The club has already signed Joel Bolomboy from Crvena Zvezda, Patty Mills from Tenerife, Both Gach from Bourg and Yves Pons from Andorra.
The team will be coached by Tony Parker next season, with Asvel looking to build a competitive roster for another EuroLeague campaign.
However, the club’s offseason has also been complicated by financial difficulties.
Asvel initially strengthened its roster with the additions of Sylvain Francisco, Armoni Brooks and Nick Weiler-Babb. The trio was expected to play important roles for the French club, but Asvel subsequently encountered financial problems and failed to secure the projected budget.
As a result, all three players left the team.
Francisco ultimately joined Panathinaikos, while Brooks was loaned to Valencia and Weiler-Babb moved to Crvena Zvezda.
Sestina gets another EuroLeague opportunity
Despite a difficult season in Milano, Sestina now has another opportunity to establish himself in the EuroLeague.
His previous experience with Fenerbahce and Valencia, combined with his ability to shoot from outside, could make him an important piece for Asvel.
For the French club, the priority will be finding consistency after a turbulent offseason, while Tony Parker will hope the latest additions can provide the depth and versatility required to compete at the highest level of European basketball.
