Washington’s NBA and G League journey
Washington entered the NBA after establishing himself as one of the leading young guards in college basketball at Kentucky. Houston Rockets selected him late in the first round before he subsequently spent time with the Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers.
His NBA opportunities were limited, particularly during the 2025-26 season, when he appeared in 16 games for the Clippers and averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 assists in 5.5 minutes per game.
Washington found considerably more responsibility in the G League, where he averaged 21.5 points, 5.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds during the 2025-26 campaign.
TyTy Washington continues Asvel’s new roster strategy
Washington’s arrival is another piece of Asvel’s dramatically reshaped roster following the club’s decision to move away from its original plan for the 2026-27 season.
Asvel initially made several ambitious additions, signing Sylvain Francisco, Armoni Brooks and Nick Weiler-Babb, but the club later had to rethink its plans after failing to reach the budget it had originally expected. Francisco subsequently joined Panathinaikos, while Brooks moved to Valencia and Weiler-Babb joined Crvena Zvezda on loan.
Since then, Asvel have taken a different approach to their recruitment, adding a large number of players with different profiles and backgrounds. Patty Mills, Joel Bolomboy, Nate Sestina, Marc-Owen Fodzo Dada, Myles Cale, Jae Crowder, Hugo Besson, Tremont Waters, Mathis Dossou-Yovo and now Washington have all joined the club.
Washington therefore becomes the latest addition to one of the busiest teams in EuroLeague transactions this offseason, with Asvel continuing to rebuild its roster after a major change in direction.
