Panathinaikos lost to Valencia 89-79 in the EuroLeague and head coach Ergin Ataman had a clear way how to get a reaction from his players.
Panathinaikos lost at home to the Spanish side and head coach Ergin Ataman wanted to show to his players that it will be necessary for them to step their performances and attitude up if they want to meet the expectations set before the start of the season.
The Turkish coach turned up the intensity at Saturday’s training session. In fact, according to “Gazzetta“, he had gathered the players in the afternoon where they initially watched two hours of video from the Valencia game, followed by another two-hour high-intensity training session.
Cedi Osman and Richaun Holmes continued with their individual practices in hopes to return to the court as soon as possible, while Alexander Samodurov , who was suffering from a sprain and was ruled unavailable for the match against Valencia, returned. Kendrick Nunn was absent, as he is suffering from stomach problems.
This is a move Ataman has done before at Galatasaray and Anadolu Efes, with the hopes that it will serve as a wake-up call to the team in the coming games for the rest of the season. Panathinaikos currently have a 9-5 record in the EuroLeague.
Panathinakos’ next game in the EuroLeague will be on the road, as they travel to Italy to play against Milano on December 11th.
