Barcelona have suffered another injury setback ahead of the new EuroLeague season, with Yoan Makoundou expected to miss approximately six weeks.
The club announced that Yoan Makoundou has aggravated a patellar tendon issue in his left knee and will follow a conservative treatment program during his recovery.
The French center joined Barcelona this summer as part of the club’s revamped roster under head coach Aleksander Sekulic, but he will now face a spell on the sidelines before making his competitive debut for the team.
The six-week estimate would keep Makoundou out for a significant portion of the opening weeks of the season, although his return will depend on how he responds to treatment.

Barcelona already dealing with multiple injury concerns
Makoundou is the second Barcelona player to suffer a notable injury setback during the preseason.
Tosan Evbuomwan has also been sidelined after suffering a shoulder subluxation. He was initially expected to miss at least three weeks, with the injury making his availability for the opening games of the EuroLeague season doubtful.
EuroLeague injuries so far
Barcelona are far from the only EuroLeague team dealing with injuries before the new season.
Panathinaikos currently have four players dealing with injury issues. Kendrick Nunn is recovering from surgery after suffering a medial meniscus tear in his right knee, while Nigel Hayes-Davis is expected to miss around six weeks after fracturing the fourth metacarpal in his left hand. Nikos Rogkavopoulos is dealing with a left hamstring injury, while Moustapha Fall has also suffered a hamstring strain.
Crvena Zvezda are waiting for Nikola Djurisic to return from a quadriceps muscle injury. The Serbian guard is expected to miss three to four weeks.
Real Madrid also had concerns over Gabriel Deck after the Argentine forward suffered a shoulder injury while playing for his national team. Deck has since returned to training, meaning his situation appears less serious than initially feared.
Virtus will be without Kevin Kokila for approximately four weeks after the center suffered a first-degree hamstring injury in his right thigh.
Zalgiris have also been hit, with new signing Saben Lee sidelined for several weeks after suffering a hamstring strain. Jonas Valanciunas also briefly raised concerns for Zalgiris after leaving a preseason game with a calf issue, but the injury was later described as only a bruise and not a serious problem.
