Baskonia has completed another important move this summer by signing A.J. Lawson to a two-year contract. The arrival of the Canadian guard had been reported in recent days, and the Basque club has now officially confirmed the agreement.
The 26-year-old shooting guard arrives in Vitoria after spending his entire professional career in the NBAand G League, bringing valuable experience from the highest level of basketball in North America.
Lawson is expected to add athleticism, scoring ability and perimeter shooting to Baskonia’s backcourt as the club continues rebuilding its roster ahead of the new season.
From South Carolina to NBA opportunities
Lawson played college basketball at South Carolina from 2018 to 2021 before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2021. Despite going undrafted, he managed to earn opportunities through his performances in the G League.
Throughout his career, Lawson has represented several NBA organizations, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors.
At the G League level, he played for teams such as the College Park Skyhawks, Guelph Nighthawks, Iowa Wolves, Texas Legends, Long Island Nets and Raptors 905.
During the previous season, Lawson was named to the All-NBA G League Second Team, proving his impact and consistency at that level.
He also appeared in 30 NBA games for the Toronto Raptors, averaging 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Baskonia continues offseason roster rebuild
The signing of Lawson represents the third addition for Baskonia this summer.
Before bringing in the American guard, the Spanish club already completed deals for D.J. Stewart from Cedevita Olimpija and Chris Duarte from Unicaja, strengthening both the perimeter rotation and offensive options.
At the same time, Baskonia has seen significant changes to its roster. Several players have left the club, including Gytis Radzevicius, who returned to Rytas, Eugene Omoruyi, who joined Besiktas, and Trent Forrest, who signed with Fenerbahce.
With A.J. Lawson now added, Baskonia continues shaping a new-look squad with the goal of returning to a higher level of competitiveness in both the EuroLeague and Liga Endesa. All Baskonia roster moves can be followed on the EuroLeague Transactions tracker.
