Baskonia was not satisfied with the officiating in their EuroLeague match against Barcelona and will file an official complaint.
Baskonia was defeated 97-91 in the Spanish derby in Round 27, and head coach Pablo Galbiati did not mince his words in analyzing the events in the “Fernando Buesa Arena”. According to the Italian expert, there was a clear lack of an even criteria in the final moments that was to the detriment of his team at key moments.
“There were a lot of contacts and fouls that were called very quickly against us, but not against them,” said Galbiati and emphasized that the tolerance towards Barcelona’s defense was not the same as towards the club from Vitoria.
The three referees at this Spanish derby were Mehdi Difallah, Olegs Latisevs, Guido Giovannetti. And Galbiati, despite his harsh statements and announcement of an appeal to the EuroLeague, tried to use sarcasm to avoid a personal fine, given that the competition is known for its rigor.
“I don’t want to waste money.” – he joked in front of the journalists, referring to the comment Real Madrid head coach Sergio Scariolo made after his team lost in Greece to Panathinaikos, where he also had complaints about the officiating.
Baskonia, by the way, is already preparing documentation so that the EuroLeague will review the events in Vitoria.
