Baskonia vs Barcelona Preview
Baskonia have been playing with plenty of ups and downs this season. After recording four consecutive wins across all competitions, they managed to pick up only two victories in the following six games. Last week, they defeated Zalgiris at home 102–91 in a game in which they played an excellent finish. However, over the weekend they were beaten away by Tenerife 89–85, before suffering another defeat against Milano in the EuroLeague. In that road game, Baskonia endured a heavy 109–89 loss, which left Paolo Galbiati’s team in 16th place in the standings with a 9–17 record.
The loss to Milano was Baskonia’s third consecutive EuroLeague defeat on the road, leaving them with just one win in 14 away games, which makes them the second-worst road team in the competition. However, Baskonia have been quite solid at home, registering eight wins in 12 games, which can be seen as an encouraging sign ahead of this matchup. In the previous round, Baskonia played one of their weakest games of the season, especially on the defensive end. They allowed Milano to score 57 points in the first half and 109 overall. Baskonia were also effective offensively in the opening half, but completely dropped off after the break, scoring only 33 points in the final 20 minutes. If there is something that can encourage the Italian coach on Baskonia’s bench, it is the performances of Markus Howard since his return. Over the last three games, the undersized shooting guard has scored 15, 14, and 21 points. Alongside him, the ever-reliable Timothee Luwawu-Cabarrot was also in good form against Milan, finishing with 19 points. This season, he is the fourth-leading scorer in Europe’s elite competition. He also hit some of the most important shots in the win over Zalgiris, where he was Baskonia’s top scorer with 19 points. In addition to him, Trent Forrest and Rodions Kurucs contributed 15 points each in that victory, as did Kobi Simmons, Markus Howard, and Mamadi Diakite, giving Baskonia as many as six players in double figures. Baskonia are the team with the best two-point shooting percentage in the EuroLeague, while at the same time ranking as the third-worst three-point shooting team. A major issue for Baskonia is their rather poor defensive play, which is reflected in the fact that they are the third-worst defensive team in the competition.
Barcelona were beaten 82–78 by Fenerbahce in a physically demanding game in the first match of the current EuroLeague double round. To make matters worse, this was the Catalan giants’ third consecutive defeat, having also lost away to Olympiacos last week 87–75, before suffering another setback over the weekend at Murcia, who edged them 84–83 in a tight finish. As far as the EuroLeague is concerned, Barcelona are currently part of a group of teams with a 16–10 record, giving them reason to believe they can still secure a direct playoff spot.
Still, it is evident that Barcelona’s roster has been going through a rough patch lately. Against Olympiacos, they started the game very poorly, but strong play in the third quarter and part of the fourth allowed them to turn the score around, at one point looking like the team closer to victory. However, they completely collapsed in the closing moments and allowed the Greek side to record a fairly convincing win. The most in-form Barcelona player in both recent EuroLeague losses was Kevin Punter, who scored 15 points against Olympiacos and 24 against Fenerbahce. Nevertheless, he missed crucial free throws late in the previous game, and also had a chance to win the game against Murcia with a three-pointer, but failed to convert. Against Fenerbahce, Barcelona delivered one of their weakest performances of the season over the first three quarters. They trailed by 20 points late in the third quarter against the team coached by their former head coach, but the Catalans nearly completed a comeback. They won the final period 22–9, but still fell short of the reigning European champions. Besides Punter, Barcelona had three more players in double figures (Dario Brizuela, Jan Vesely, and Joel Parra), but none of them scored more than 11 points, clearly indicating a lack of offensive support. A minor concern for Barcelona is the fact that they rank only 11th in EuroLeague defensive rating, which is far from satisfactory for a team aiming for a high finish. Against Baskonia, it will be a major challenge to control the opponent’s transition game and try to slow the pace as much as possible, since Barcelona play at the fourth-slowest tempo in the league and are now facing a team that likes to run.
Baskonia vs Barcelona H2H
In the first part of the season, Barcelona defeated Baskonia at home in a truly extraordinary game. In a matchup that featured as many as three overtime periods, Barcelona emerged victorious with a 134–124 win.
Injuries and Suspensions
Barcelona cannot count on Juan Nunez, while Baskonia will be without Tadas Sedekerskis, and Markquis Nowell is listed as questionable.

Baskonia vs Barcelona Best Betting Tip and Prediction
The season is approaching a phase in which every game carries enormous importance, and teams aiming for a high finish are expected to show their full quality and motivation. Barcelona will enter this matchup fully focused and eager to bounce back after two consecutive EuroLeague defeats. They have a very favorable injury situation and are facing a team that delivered a disastrous performance in the first game of the current double round, allowing the opponent to score as many as 109 points. For all these reasons, we believe that Barcelona will come away with a victory in this game.
