Bayern vs Alba Berlin Game 2 – Preview & Prediction (Jun. 14, 2026)

Bayern went through a rather unusual period of roster and organizational changes throughout the season. Gordon Herbert departed the club, former NBA player Spencer Dinwiddie had only a brief stint with the team, and Svetislav Pesic eventually took over as head coach. Considering Bayern fell short of expectations in the EuroLeague and were surprisingly eliminated in the German Cup semifinals, winning the Bundesliga title has become both an extra source of motivation and, in many ways, a chance to salvage the season.

Another important factor is that coach Pesic has already announced that he will retire after the season, making this a final opportunity to conclude his legendary coaching career with another trophy. Bayern swept Trier 3-0 in the quarterfinals and then dominated Bonn by the same score in the semifinals. They extended their winning streak to 14 consecutive victories with a 102-94 win over Alba Berlin in Game 1 of the finals to take a 1-0 series lead. After missing the previous two games before the finals, Andreas Obst returned in spectacular fashion and led Bayern to victory with 33 points and three assists while shooting 11-for-18 from the field and 6-for-12 from three-point range. Justus Hollatz added 11 points, while Oscar Da Silva contributed 10. The rest of the roster underperformed offensively, especially Xavier Rathan-Mayes, who had averaged 23.5 points over the final two games before the finals but was limited to just seven points on 3-for-7 shooting in the series opener. Bayern can be encouraged by the fact that they managed to win despite receiving limited offensive production from nearly everyone except Obst. That leaves plenty of room for improvement, which they will have a chance to demonstrate in Game 2.

After 24 years in the EuroLeague, Alba Berlin decided to leave the competition and join the Basketball Champions League, where their campaign ended in the quarterfinals. They finished second in the Bundesliga regular-season standings, which was a solid achievement, but like Bayern, they also failed to win the German Cup, losing to Bamberg in the final. Naturally, Alba enters this series with the same objective as Bayern – to finish the season with at least one trophy – but accomplishing that will be extremely difficult.

Just how difficult became apparent in Game 1. Alba managed to contain nearly every Bayern player except Obst, yet still came away with a loss. They defeated Vechta 3-1 in the quarterfinals and then overcame Bamberg 3-2 in a hard-fought semifinal series, meaning fatigue likely played at least some role in their defeat against Bayern. Norris Agbakoko led Alba in scoring in the opener with 21 points. Justin Bean followed with 17 points and six rebounds, while Martin Hermannsson recorded 14 points and nine assists. Jack Kayil, who has enjoyed an excellent season, struggled with eight points and seven rebounds while shooting 2-for-9 from the field. Moses Wood also had a disappointing outing, finishing with nine points on 3-for-7 shooting. Interestingly, Alba shot an impressive 51% from the field, made 13 of their 30 three-point attempts, missed only two free throws, grabbed 11 offensive rebounds, and recorded 23 assists against 13 turnovers, compared to Bayern’s 15 turnovers. Despite all of that, they still lost the game. That alone highlights how much better they will need to play against a talented Bayern squad if they hope to make this series competitive and steal a road win in Game 2.
