Bonn is a team that can be satisfied with the season so far, at least when it comes to the regular season. Simply put, throughout the entire season they delivered performances that were probably above their actual quality level, but they never gave up at any point. That put them in a situation where they recorded five wins and only two losses over the final seven rounds. Such a run secured the team fourth place at the end of the regular season with a record of 21 wins and 13 losses, which also meant home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs against Wurzburg.

Such a strong run secured the team fifth place in the Bundesliga at the end of the regular season, which seemed fairly unrealistic during most of the season.

Fueled by the confidence gained from that stretch of good results, Wurzburg also opened this current series strongly. The final score once again demonstrated how capable Wurzburg is defensively. They looked quite poor in the first quarter, uncharacteristically bad on defense, but from that moment on complete domination followed. It is rarely seen in European basketball that you allow an opponent to score only 31 points over 30 minutes of play. They definitely decided the winner in the final quarter, which ended 9-15 in their favor. Davion Mintz led them to victory as the team’s top scorer with 19 points.
