Fenerbahce have officially announced the signing of Braxton Key on a two-year deal, making the American forward the club’s third addition of the summer as the Turkish champions continue reshaping their roster ahead of the new EuroLeague season.
Reports linking Key with Fenerbahce first emerged immediately after the Liga Endesa Finals, and the move has now been officially completed.
Braxton Key arrives after impressive debut season in Europe
The 29-year-old forward is coming off an outstanding first season in European basketball with Valencia, where he quickly established himself as one of the team’s most valuable two-way players.
Key helped Valencia capture the Liga Endesa title while also playing a key role in the club’s run to the EuroLeague Final Four.
In his debut EuroLeague campaign, he appeared in 34 games, averaging:
- 6.3 points
- 3.5 rebounds
- 1.1 assists
While his offensive numbers were solid, Key made his biggest impact on the defensive end, earning a reputation as one of the competition’s most versatile perimeter defenders.
NBA and G League experience
Before arriving in Europe, Key spent several years in the United States, splitting time between the NBA and the G League.
During his professional career, he appeared in the NBA with:
- Philadelphia 76ers
- Detroit Pistons
- Denver Nuggets
- Golden State Warriors
Although his NBA opportunities were limited, Key became one of the G League’s premier defensive players, earning the NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2025.
After going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft, Key worked his way through the professional ranks following a successful college career.
He played for Alabama from 2016 to 2018 before transferring to Virginia, where he competed from 2018 to 2020.

Fenerbahce continue strengthening championship roster

The club also secured continuity by extending the contracts of Nicolo Melli, Chris Silva and Talen Horton-Tucker, keeping the core of the championship team together. The Turkish powerhouse is expected to strengthen its roster further, with Shane Larkin, Ignas Sargiunas and Marcus Bingham Jr. heavily linked with the club as Fenerbahce continues building a roster capable to competing for more trophies next season.
Numerous departures from Istanbul
At the same time, Fenerbahce have undergone significant roster changes. The club parted ways with Nando De Colo, Arturs Zagars, Devon Hall, Khem Birch, Jilson Bango, Bonzie Colson, Mikael Jantunen, Metecan Birsen, Tarik Biberovic, Brandon Boston Jr. and Armando Bacot, marking one of the biggest overhauls among EuroLeague contenders this summer.
