Bonn suffered a very routine 54–69 home defeat to Wurzburg in a highly inefficient game in the first quarterfinal matchup of the Bundesliga playoffs.
Although Bonn opened the game well and built a nine-point lead after the first ten minutes, things looked completely different afterward. Wurzburg tightened up their defense and allowed only seven points in the second quarter. Extremely poor shooting percentages from both teams led to a very low-scoring contest.
However, the visitors, who had as many as 10 more rebounds than their opponents, secured an opening playoff road win.

The winning team was led by Davion Mintz with 19 points, Marcus Carr added 12 points and 8 assists, while Charles Thompson scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
For Bonn, Joel-Sadu Aminu stood out with 12 points, while Jeffery Garrett added 11.
The second game of this quarterfinal playoff series is scheduled in two days, with Bonn hosting once again. The team that reaches three wins first will advance to the semifinals.
Earlier in the day, Bamberg defeated Ulm 80–74 at home, also in the first quarterfinal game of the Bundesliga playoffs.
Although Ulm opened the first quarter brilliantly and built a 10-point lead, Bamberg managed to organize their defense better, slow the pace, and limit scoring in the second and third quarters. Outstanding Demarcus Demonia led the home team in the final quarter, when Bamberg built an insurmountable lead and secured a well-deserved victory.
