Bursaspor was able to claim a big upset win at home against Galatasaray, winning 91-87 in overtime in Round 10 of the Turkish Super League.
Bursaspor entered this game with a poor 3-6 record in the Turkish Super League, while Galatasaray was in a much better spot at 6-3, knowing that this road game will be difficult for them. They were also somewhat depleted because James Palmer, one of their best players, was ruled out for this contest.
It was a dramatic, fast-paced, back and forth game with many lead changes, particularly in the fourth quarter. The game was essentially a battle between the two backcourts, who were both producing fantastic numbers. Will Cummings and Errick McCollum were consistently creating not just for themselves, but for their teammates, and were hitting big shots from the perimeter constantly. On the other side, Bursaspor always an answer through Bryant Crawford and Brandon Childress, who were destroying Galatasaray’s defense with fantastic penetration. At the very end, neither team could hit the crucial basket to put the game away, so it went to overtime tied at 77-77.

In overtime, Childress put the icing on the cake along with Artur Konotsuk on offense with more great layups inside the paint, and with multiple big defensive stops at the end, Bursaspor got the final laugh through a Crawford layup to gain a big upset win and a needed boost for the rest of their season.
Brandon Childress was the star of the game with a triple-double, which is rare in European basketball. Childress had 24 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists, while Brandon Crawford and Artur Konotsuk added 18 and 16 points respectively. For Galatasaray, Will Cummings led the team in scoring with 21 points, while Errick McCollum added 18 more, but the pair shot only 10-30 from the field, and that inefficiency might have cost Yakup Sekizkok‘s team the game.
Galatasray is now 6-4 and will host Merkezefendi in the next round on December 12th, while Bursaspor is 4-6 and will travel to Ankara to face Turk Telekom a day later.
In other news, Bahcesehir defeated Manisa 77-70, while Buyukekmece defeated Mersin 88-77 in a clash near the bottom of the table to get their second win of the season and give Mersin their seventh defeat.
