Chima Moneke has reacted to Nick Weiler-Babb’s move to Crvena Zvezda, admitting that the signing caught him by surprise.
The Crvena Zvezda announcement of Weiler-Babb’s arrival made its way to Instagram, where Moneke shared the post on his story.
“Ok wow, this got me good,” Chima Moneke wrote.
The reaction comes shortly after Crvena Zvezda officially confirmed the signing of the German guard, who had previously been unveiled as an Asvel signing ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Nick Weiler-Babb joins Crvena Zvezda
Weiler-Babb had been one of Asvel’s major summer additions, but the club’s financial problems drastically changed his plans.
Instead of joining the French side, the 30-year-old will continue his career in Belgrade, with Crvena Zvezda beating competition from several EuroLeague clubs to secure his signature.
The move represents another notable development in this summer’s EuroLeague transactions, with Weiler-Babb bringing experience, defensive versatility and playmaking ability to the Serbian powerhouse.
During the 2025/26 EuroLeague season with Anadolu Efes, Weiler-Babb averaged 7.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.2 steals in 37 appearances.
Weiler-Babb brings two-way experience to Belgrade
Weiler-Babb has established himself as one of the most complete perimeter players in European basketball.
The German combo guard is valued for his basketball IQ, leadership and ability to defend multiple positions, while his ball-handling and playmaking should give Crvena Zvezda another versatile option on the perimeter.
Before spending the 2025/26 season with Anadolu Efes, Weiler-Babb spent five seasons with Bayern, where he won the EuroLeague Best Defender award.
Now, his next chapter will take place in Belgrade – a move that clearly caught the attention of Chima Moneke.
