Aleksander Sekulic has coached Barcelona since July 2026. His contract runs to June 2028. He is the first Slovenian to hold the job. He was born in Ljubljana on 24 February 1978, and he is 48.
He got there through Dubai. He took over from Jurica Golemac in April 2026, with the season already running. Two months later Dubai won the ABA League. They beat Partizan 3-1, and took the last game in Belgrade, 83-81.
Zenit had him before that. He signed in June 2025 and was gone by January. Three clubs in thirteen months, and a trophy in the middle one.
He also still coaches Slovenia, and has since 2020. The federation extended him in January 2026, for two more years. His last tournament ended against Germany in the quarterfinals. Luka Doncic scored 39 that night, and it was not enough.
