Igor Kokoskov was born in Belgrade on 17 December 1971. He has been a head coach in the NBA and at three national teams. Since July 2026 he has run player development at Project B. It is a new six-team league that starts in January 2027.
His best work came with Slovenia at EuroBasket 2017. They won all nine games and took the title. The final was against Serbia, his own country, and Slovenia won 93-85. It remains the only EuroBasket Slovenia has ever won.
A year later Phoenix hired him as head coach. He was the first man born and raised outside North America to hold such a job. The Suns went 19-63 and he lasted one season.
Serbia gave him the national team in November 2019. It ended in Belgrade in July 2021, when Italy won 102-95 and took the Olympic place. He returned to a club bench with Anadolu Efes in July 2025. That lasted until late November.

What did he do with Georgia?
He coached them from 2008 to 2015 and took them to their first EuroBasket in 2011. They went back in 2013 and again in 2015. Before him the country had never reached the tournament.
How did his two club jobs in Europe end?
He coached Fenerbahce for the 2020-21 season, then left in July 2021 for an assistant role in Dallas, citing family reasons. Anadolu Efes gave him a three-year deal in July 2025 and sacked him on 27 November, after a 102-66 loss to Monaco left the club at 5-8 in the EuroLeague.
