Tony Parker has been the head coach of Asvel since June 2026. He is also the man who owns the club. He was born in Bruges on 17 May 1982. This is his first head coaching job at a professional club.
He replaced Pierric Poupet, who left after a poor season. Asvel finished fourth in France and went out in the quarterfinals. Vincent Collet joined his staff as offensive coordinator. Collet ran the French national team before him.
His coaching debut came earlier, with France at under-17 level. The first game was against the United States, in Istanbul. France lost it 115-84. His late father was American.
He is selling the club while coaching it. Joey and Jesse Buss, formerly of the Lakers, are in talks to buy. The figure discussed is 60 to 80 million euros. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026.
