Anadolu Efes defeated Bayern with result 80-81 with a last-second buzzer-beater three-pointer by Cole Swider in EuroLeague Round 31.
For Anadolu Efes, guards Rodrigue Beaubois and Shane Larkin, along with centers Georgios Papagiannis and Vincent Poirier, were out. Bayern also struggled with multiple absences, including guards Kamar Baldwin, Rokas Jokubaitis, and Stefan Jovic, as well as centers Elias Harris and Leon Kratzer, who were all out.
Bayern dominated the first half, building a large lead thanks to excellent defense on both ends of the floor. They won the first quarter 17-14 and then dominated the second, scoring 22 points while allowing only 20.
Despite that +13 advantage, Anadolu Efes began to chip away at Bayern’s lead in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to just five points by the end of the period. In the final quarter, with three minutes remaining, Anadolu Efes tied the game for the first time.
However, with one minute remaining, Nenad Dimitrijevic hit crucial free throws, giving Bayern a four-point lead. On the other end, Loyd scored to cut the deficit to two points, and on the very next possession, Cole Swider hit a three-pointer for the win as the buzzer sounded, sealing a dramatic victory for Anadolu Efes on the road.
Jordan Loyd was the hero of Anadolu Efes’ huge comeback, scoring 20 points and adding 3 assists, including the crucial pass to Cole Swider for the game-winning basket. PJ Dozier contributed 12 points, while on the other side, Xavier Rathan-Mayes led Bayern with 15 points.
With this loss, Bayern remained at only 13 wins after 31 games, significantly reducing their chances for the Play-In, as Panathinaikos, with one game less, sits three wins ahead. Meanwhile, Anadolu Efes improved their record to 10 wins this season.
