Crvena Zvezda has made changes in its front office, with Milos Teodosic taking over the position of sporting director, and now the club’s first official moves are eagerly awaited.
According to Direktno, Crvena Zvezda has turned its attention toward Valencia and is highly interested in signing their center, Matt Costello.
The report states that Matt Costello is one of the management’s primary targets, although there has been no mention of concrete steps or ongoing negotiations.
The American center, who also holds an Ivory Coast passport, averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds this season. While he did not put up spectacular numbers, he fit well into Pedro Martinez’s system and played an important role in Valencia’s run to the Final Four, which has attracted the attention of the Red and Whites.
Costello began his professional career in the G League before spending time with the San Antonio Spurs and then making the move to Europe. His first club on the continent was Avellino, followed by Gran Canaria and Baskonia, from where he joined Los Taronja.
Recently, there has been talk that the club’s first order of business would be extending Dejan Davidovac’s contract, as well as appointing Ibon Navarro as the new head coach, but Crvena Zvezda has yet to make anything official. That is expected to happen in the coming days, considering that the club’s season has already come to an end.
