Dubai has brought in an EuroLeague reinforcement by signing Awudu Abass, formerly of Virtus, as officially announced.
Awudu Abass averaged 7.5 points, 2 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game last season with the Bologna team in Serie A and now adds depth to Dubai’s frontcourt.
In the EuroLeague, he played a smaller role, appearing in 31 games with averages of 4.4 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.
Before joining Virtus, Abass also played for Brescia, Milano, and Cantu. He declared for the NBA Draft in 2015 but was not selected.
Jurica Golemec’s roster has already seen several quality additions with EuroLeague pedigree, including Leon Radosevic, Nemanja Dangubic, and Ahmet Duverioglu.
Nate Mason was the first acquisition, and Danilo Andjusic is expected to be officially added soon as another reinforcement for the Asian team.
Alongside new arrivals, Dubai has also experienced departures, as sports director Djordje Djokovic left the club after only a few months and before the first competitive game.
In the opening of the new ABA League season, Dubai will host the reigning champion, Crvena Zvezda, in their arena.
Additionally, it has been decided that Dubai will not participate in any European competitions in their first season of existence.
