The EuroLeague Head Coaches Board (EHCB) has come out in defense of the competition and European basketball as a whole by expressing their support for the stance taken by the Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) Board of Directors.
In their statement, the coaches emphasized that the EuroLeague is the best basketball competition outside of USA, that it is on a strong upward trajectory, and that this should be respected through actions rather than words.
They also expressed a willingness to collaborate with any interested party that is ready to respect the fact that the EuroLeague has been leading the evolution of basketball for the past 25 years.
On that occasion, the EuroLeague Head Coaches Board released the following statement:
“The EuroLeague Head Coaches Board (EHCB) continues to support the direction for the future of our sport, as outlined by the Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) Board of Directors following their meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025.
As coaches of the most successful continental competition in European basketball history—which has shaped the basketball landscape across the continent and beyond for a quarter of a century—we believe the future of the sport in Europe is brighter than ever, and we are only beginning to scratch the surface of basketball’s full potential here.
For 25 years, the EuroLeague has been at the forefront of this evolution, creating a true league that includes every basketball stronghold across Europe and remains open to anyone who shares this vision.
With a unique blend of on-court talent and fan engagement, the EuroLeague is globally recognized as a premier basketball competition. This powerful brand of the game, combined with the deep loyalty of the fanbase to their clubs, is truly unmatched.
While we are never shy to voice our opinions and believe there is always room for further progress, we must not underestimate the accomplishments that have already been made—both on and off the court.
