There could be big changes with the EuroLeague in the near future, specifically regarding the Final Four and its location.
The EuroLeague already has an agreement in place for the next Final Four tournament to be held once again in Abu Dhabi, but those plans are now uncertain due to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and the region’s persistent instability.
Because of that, three European cities are being considered as backup options. According to the Lithuanian outlet Krepsinis.net, the candidates are Belgrade, Kaunas, and Valencia.
Kaunas hosted the EuroLeague Final Four only once, in 2023, when Real Madrid won the title against Olympiacos thanks to Sergio Llull’s incredible game-winning shot over Moustapha Fall. Valencia, meanwhile, has never hosted a Final Four even though owner Juan Roig has taken great strides to make his arena a state-of-the-art facility.
As mentioned, EuroLeague still has an agreement with Abu Dhabi for the 2027 edition, and these alternative cities would only come into consideration if security concerns prevent the event from being held there.
