TOP STORY: Bruno Fernando finds new club after leaving Partizan
Bruno Fernando has officially become a new Anadolu Efes player today, signing a two-year contract after leaving Partizan following less than one season with the club.
There had been plenty of speculation surrounding Fernando’s departure from Partizan, with Maccabi Tel Aviv frequently mentioned as a potential destination. However, the Angolan center ultimately decided to continue his career with Anadolu Efes.
Fernando began the previous season with Real Madrid before joining Partizan at the end of October. During his time with the Serbian club, he appeared in 32 EuroLeague games, averaging 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
According to Partizan’s official statement, the Serbian club also received a transfer fee as part of Fernando’s departure.
TRANSFERS & MOVES: Bonga to Panathinaikos, Edwards to Virtus and more EuroLeague moves
Panathinaikos have completed their third signing in three days, with Isaac Bonga becoming the latest addition to their roster. The German international arrives after two excellent seasons with Partizan. Bonga has signed a three-year contract with Panathinaikos, who have also added Brancou Badio and Guerschon Yabusele over the past two days as part of their ambitious offseason moves.
Virtus continue to be very active in the transfer market, with Kessler Edwards becoming the Italian club’s latest addition. Edwards arrives after spending the previous season with Hapoel Tel Aviv. The American forward established himself as an excellent defender and valuable role player, and with a bigger role expected for him at Virtus, he could have the opportunity to showcase his full potential.
Hapoel Tel Aviv have completed another major piece of business by agreeing to a contract extension with Antonio Blakeney, one of the best scorers and standout performers from last season. Blakeney, who is interestingly under FBI investigation, has signed a new three-year contract with the Israeli club.
Olympiacos have also agreed on an important contract extension, with captain Kostas Papanikolaou signing a new two-year deal with the club. Papanikolaou has spent a total of 14 years with Olympiacos across two different stints, and during that time he has undoubtedly become one of the biggest legends in the history of the Piraeus-based club.
Barcelona have extended the contract of their power forward Joel Parra, who appeared in all 40 EuroLeague games last season, averaging 5.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game. The Spanish international has signed a new four-year contract with Barcelona, securing his future with the Catalan club.
INSIDER DESK: Barcelona lose major signing as Moses Wright heads to Milano
Barcelona are now very likely to miss out on a major addition for the upcoming season. According to Eurohoops, Moses Wright will become a new Milano player, with the Italian club set to pay Barcelona €900,000 in compensation for his services.
Although Barcelona had reached an agreement with Wright, his contract included a EuroLeague opt-out clause, which Milano will ultimately activate to secure his arrival.
Wright had a fantastic season with Zalgiris, where he appeared in 42 EuroLeague games and averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. There is no doubt that he will represent a major boost for Milano’s frontcourt rotation.
Interestingly, Zalgiris will also receive a small compensation fee from Milano as part of the deal. Wright recently confirmed to Cosmote TV that he had agreed on terms with Barcelona, but ultimately the move to the Catalan club will not happen.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: Carlik Jones shocked by Partizan’s offseason moves
Partizan are going through a very interesting offseason so far, as the club has yet to officially announce a single new signing. Bruno Fernando became the latest player to leave the team today, following the departures of Isaac Bonga, Nick Calathes, Shake Milton, Sterling Brown, Duane Washington, Aleksa Radanov, and Dylan Osetkowski.
Although four players are reportedly expected to join Partizan soon – Kevarrius Hayes, Nikola Tanaskovic, Derek Willis, and Kyle Allman – none of them have been officially announced by the club yet.
Only a small number of players remain on the roster, and one of them is Carlik Jones, who appeared shocked by the recent developments at the club. The American guard expressed his reaction on his Instagram profile:
“Man what are we doing!!! Am I the only one who think this is insane?”
It is worth remembering that Jones extended his contract with Partizan last season, committing to the club until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
