Everything you need to know about Anadolu Efes ahead of the 2026/27 EuroLeague Fantasy season and which players could provide the most value.
Anadolu Efes will be led from the bench by Spanish coach Pablo Laso. Last season, they finished in a disappointing 19th place. There was plenty of speculation during the summer about whether there would be a coaching change, but the club’s decision-makers ultimately chose to give Laso another chance.
During the summer, they brought in the Monaco duo of Mike James and Matthew Strazel. NBA returnee Dario Saric also joined the team, while Bruno Fernando arrived from Partizan. There is no doubt that Efes will have a more competitive team next season compared to last year.
The keys to the team will most likely be handed to the EuroLeague’s all-time leading scorer, Mike James. From a fantasy perspective, this could be an interesting team, as we project them to finish somewhere in the middle of the standings. That should mean a large number of close games, where the team’s key players could put together strong fantasy performances.
Expected Rotation
| Position | Starter | Main backup | Rotation |
|---|---|---|---|
| PG | Mike James | Matthew Strazel | Daron Russell |
| SG | Jordan Loyd | Isaia Cordinier | David Mutaf |
| SF | PJ Dozier | Collin Malcolm | Santi Yusta |
| PF | Dario Saric | Ercan Osmani | Erkan Yilmaz |
| C | Bruno Fernando | Kai Jones |
Anadolu Efes appear to have assembled a very talented and interesting roster over the summer, combining several returning players with some extremely high-quality additions.
First and foremost, we are talking about Mike James, who will try to bring Anadolu Efes back into playoff contention. Their biggest strength appears to be the backcourt, where they have several outstanding players in the rotation.
Matthew Strazel and Jordan Loyd are players capable of scoring 20 points against virtually any team in the EuroLeague. Perhaps the biggest question mark is at the small forward position, where they have several players of a similar level but with different skill sets. This will allow Pablo Laso to experiment with a huge number of different lineups.
Dario Saric should be one of the team’s leaders alongside James. He played several excellent games for the Croatian national team over the summer, showing that he can still perform at a high level.
The center position is particularly interesting, with two extremely fiery players in Bruno Fernando and Kai Jones. It will be up to the coach to find the right approach with both players and get the best out of them.
The Fantasy Star
Mike James – Guard – 16.0 credits
Mike James arrives at Anadolu Efes as the centerpiece of the offense and the team’s most obvious Fantasy asset. Last season with Monaco, he averaged 16.4 points, 6.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds for a 19.1 PIR in just under 30 minutes per game.
His Fantasy value goes far beyond scoring. James should once again have enormous usage, while his playmaking and ability to draw fouls provide a strong floor even when his shot is not falling. He averaged 5.7 free-throw attempts per game last season, meaning inefficient shooting nights do not necessarily result in poor Fantasy scores.
At Anadolu Efes, around 28–30 minutes per game and a central offensive role should keep him among the elite Fantasy guards. His ceiling is equally attractive: James remains capable of producing 25–30+ PIR when scoring, assists and fouls drawn come together.
Age and potentially premium pricing are the main concerns, but his combination of usage, minutes, playmaking and scoring gives him one of the safest Fantasy profiles on the roster.
Best Value Pick
Bruno Fernando – 10.3 credits
Bruno Fernando could be one of the most interesting value picks on the Anadolu Efes roster. His numbers last season do not immediately jump off the page – 8.4 points and 4.4 rebounds – but he needed only around 18 minutes per game to produce them.
That is exactly where the Fantasy upside lies. Fernando does not need plays called for him to generate PIR. He scores efficiently around the rim, rebounds well on both ends, draws fouls and adds occasional blocks and steals. Last season, he shot 63% from two-point range while averaging 1.7 offensive rebounds in limited minutes.
If his role at Anadolu Efes increases into the 22–25 minute range, there is a realistic path toward consistent double-digit PIR production without requiring significant offensive usage. His per-minute production from last season suggests there is considerable room for growth if the playing time follows.
At the right opening price, Fernando could therefore offer exactly what Fantasy managers want early in the season: production above his initial valuation and the potential for a quick increase in value.
The Sleeper
PJ Dozier – 7.7 credits
PJ Dozier is exactly the type of player who could fly under the radar when Fantasy managers build their opening-round teams. His numbers last season were not particularly attractive from a Fantasy perspective, and Anadolu Efes now has an extremely crowded backcourt rotation following the arrivals of Mike James and Matthew Strazel.
That makes Dozier a risky pick, but also an interesting differential. His biggest Fantasy advantage is versatility. He can score, rebound, create for teammates and generate defensive stats, meaning his PIR does not necessarily depend on high usage or a big number of shot attempts.
Minutes are the obvious concern. With so many options in the Anadolu Efes backcourt, Dozier may have nights when his role is limited. However, if his opening price reflects that uncertainty, there could be value whenever injuries, matchups or form push him higher in the rotation.
He is certainly not a player to build your opening Fantasy roster around, but his all-around production makes him worth monitoring closely. If the opportunity appears, Dozier has the profile to outperform his ownership percentage.
The Trap
Daron Russell – 10.7 credits
Daron Russell enters the EuroLeague after a spectacular season with U-BT Cluj-Napoca, where he averaged 19.8 points, 6.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals while finishing as the EuroCup’s leading scorer. Those numbers naturally make him an attractive Fantasy name.
The problem is that his price already reflects that production, while his situation at Anadolu Efes is completely different.
Russell was a primary offensive creator at Cluj, but Efes has assembled one of the deepest perimeter rotations in the EuroLeague. Mike James should command significant usage, while Matthew Strazel, Jordan Loyd, Isaia Cordinier and PJ Dozier are all competing for touches and minutes alongside Russell.
That makes it difficult to expect anything close to his EuroCup usage. Russell can certainly have explosive games, but at a high Fantasy price, consistency matters more than occasional ceiling performances.
Until we see exactly how Pablo Laso distributes minutes and ball-handling responsibilities, paying 10+ credits price for Russell carries considerably more downside than upside.
