Everything you need to know about Baskonia ahead of the 2026/27 EuroLeague Fantasy season and which players could provide the most value.
Baskonia have produced some major Fantasy legends in recent EuroLeague seasons. Traditionally, they play in high-scoring games with huge PIR numbers in their matchups. This season, they will once again be led by energetic Italian coach Paolo Galbiati. Throughout his career, he has consistently implemented a fast pace, transition basketball and a high number of possessions with his teams.
For now, it looks like Baskonia will not have a clear-cut leader this season and will rely more on team basketball. However, it is highly likely that one or two players will emerge during the season as must-have options for all Fantasy managers.
Interestingly, the most expensive player at the moment is Tadas Sedekerskis, priced at just 10.4 credits. Everyone else is below 10.0 credits, which suggests that making the right Baskonia additions could lead to a significant increase in your Fantasy team’s value. And increasing team value is the most important part of the strategy during the first ten or so rounds of the season. With the exception of Round 1, when they host Olympiacos, the Vitoria side has an extremely favorable schedule, so Baskonia players should definitely be considered.
Expected Rotation
| Position | Starter | Main backup | Rotation |
|---|---|---|---|
| PG | Damion Baugh | Kobi Simmons | Matteo Spagnolo |
| SG | Chris Duarte | A.J. Lawson | Markus Howard |
| SF | DJ Stewart | Stefan Joksimovic | |
| PF | Tadas Sedekerskis | Rodions Kurucs | Clement Frisch |
| C | Kenneth Faried |
During the summer, the team lost their two best players from last season, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Trent Forrest. They brought in several players who will be making their debut seasons, so their development throughout the season should be followed closely.
At point guard, newcomers Damion Baugh and Kobi Simmons are expected to share the minutes. Baugh is a point guard who, in addition to scoring and creating for his teammates, is extremely active on the glass, which could make him a very interesting Fantasy option.
At the 2 and 3 positions, Baskonia will have several versatile players this season, allowing the coach to use a variety of combinations. Particular attention should be paid to young Stefan Joksimovic, who is expected to get some EuroLeague minutes this season. At a price of 4.0 credits, he looks like an excellent pick, as he can only bring profit in terms of team value.
At power forward, Tadas Sedekerskis and Rodion Kurucs are expected to share the minutes. They are two similar players who are very active on the glass, and at their respective prices, both look like solid Fantasy options.
And what about the team’s only true center, Kenneth Faried? Khalifa Diop made the move to the NBA, which could result in huge minutes for Faried. Of all the teams we have covered so far, this is the one that deserves the most attention due to its very short rotation and extremely low prices.
The Fantasy Star
Tadas Sedekerskis – Forward – 10.4 credits
Tadas Sedekerskis enters the new EuroLeague season fully healthy and primed to serve as Baskonia’s Fantasy anchor. While his value took a hit last year due to health struggles. More experienced Fantasy players will remember the forward duo he formed with Chima Moneke, showed just how elite he can be in high-tempo systems.
Priced at a modest 10.4 credits, he represents one of the highest-value frontcourt options available. With Baskonia’s exceptionally thin rotation forcing him into flexible minutes across power forward, small forward, and even small-ball center, Sedekerskis is guaranteed a massive, secure floor.
He does not need a high usage rate to deliver big Fantasy yields. Sedekerskis thrives on sheer efficiency, positioning, and high-volume glass cleaning. Unlike streak-dependent scorers, his PIR relies very little on outside shooting variance. He collects easy points around the rim, and consistently grabs high-volume defensive rebounds. His floor is remarkably safe, while his ceiling easily reaches 22+ PIR whenever he flirts with double-doubles or baseline efficiency marks.
At just 10.4 credits, managers get dependable frontcourt consistency without burning premium capital, making him the definitive Fantasy asset on this roster.
Best Value Pick
Kenneth Faried – Center – 9.5 credits
If Baskonia decide against adding another frontcourt piece before the EuroLeague tip-off, Kenneth Faried instantly becomes the single highest-value target in the entire game for the opening stretch from Round 2 through Round 6.
With Khalifa Diop departing for the NBA, Faried stands as the team’s sole true center, positioning him for a massive baseline role that the market has drastically undervalued at just 9.5 credits.
We have already seen what happens when Faried gets immediate run in European competition. During his opening stint with Panathinaikos, he dominated the paint to the tune of an astonishing 22.66 PIR over his first three games before Ergin Ataman shifted his minutes primarily to the domestic Greek Basket League.
At a 9.5-credit entry price, the market is pricing him like a fringe rotational backup, but his expected reality is 20-25 minutes of high-energy paint presence, lob threats, and rim protection. Because EuroLeague Fantasy dynamic pricing aggressively rewards players who outperform low initial valuations, slotting Faried into your roster early gives you elite frontcourt production while driving rapid budget appreciation.
The Sleeper
Damion Baugh – Guard – 8.4 credits
Damion Baugh makes his European debut after stints across the NBA and G League, stepping directly into a Baskonia backcourt where he will share point guard duties with Kobi Simmons. While most casual Fantasy managers will naturally gravitate toward established EuroLeague guards, Baugh offers a distinct, high-upside profile that makes him a premier differential pick early in the season
What makes Baugh such an intriguing target is his rare rebound-and-assist ceiling from the guard position. Beyond his scoring and creation abilities, he attacks the glass with an tenacity rarely seen from perimeter players. He put that multi-category potential on full display during August’s FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers for DR Congo, filling the stat sheet with averages of 14.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.7 assists over three games.
Because his Fantasy production does not rely solely on shooting efficiency, he builds a strong baseline PIR through secondary stats – crashing the boards, setting up teammates, and generating defensive stocks.
Priced at just 8.4 credits, he enters the market as a true sleeper whose value and role are positioned to rise steadily as he adapts to European basketball.
The Trap
Markus Howard – Guard – 8.3 credits
Not so long ago, in 2024, Markus Howard captured the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy by pouring in 19.5 points per game and setting a EuroLeague single-season record with 148 made three-pointers. Name recognition alone will tempt some Fantasy players to lock him into their rosters, but his actual Fantasy outlook presents a massive landmine to avoid early in the season.
Howard’s career has taken a noticeable downward trajectory since those historic heights. He has struggled to rediscover his elite shooting efficiency and faces increasingly tough defensive coverages designed specifically to deny him open looks. Because his fantasy production relies almost exclusively on scoring and perimeter volume – offering virtually no baseline in rebounds, assists, or defensive stats – a cold shooting night completely destroys his PIR output.
At an inflated 8.3 credits, you are paying a premium price for extreme volatility and high-risk variance. While he will inevitably blow up for a 30-point outburst on occasion, his floor is far too low and unreliable to justify the investment. Howard stands out as one of the few Baskonia players you should actively pass on.
