Everything you need to know about Zalgiris ahead of the 2026/27 EuroLeague Fantasy season and which players could provide the most value.
Zalgiris lost last season’s key players, Sylvain Francisco and Moses Wright, over the summer. However, they quickly found worthy replacements in the form of Carsen Edwards, Sterling Brown, and Jonas Valanciunas. They have put together a very good and competitive roster, so they are expected to finish in the upper half of the standings.
They will be coached by Lithuanian coach Tomas Masiulis. A characteristic of his teams is that there are one or two primary offensive options, while the rest play supporting roles. Those primary options are particularly attractive fantasy picks, as the entire offensive concept revolves around them. This year, that player is expected to be Valanciunas.
Zalgiris have traditionally been a good shooting team that plays at a high-scoring pace, and that should remain the case this year as well, given the number of quality shooters on the roster. Their schedule over the first five rounds is not particularly favorable, so it may be worth waiting a little before selecting Zalgiris players. The difficult schedule could also cause some of their prices to drop in the meantime.
Expected Rotation
| Position | Starter | Main backup | Rotation |
|---|---|---|---|
| PG | Nigel Williams-Goss | Maodo Lo | Saben Lee |
| SG | Carsen Edwards | Sterling Brown | Deividas Sirvydis |
| SF | Edgaras Ulanovas | Arnas Butkevicius | Marius Grigonis |
| PF | Azuolas Tubelis | Dustin Sleva | |
| C | Jonas Valanciunas | Marek Blazevic | Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu |
The newcomers will face a huge challenge in replacing Sylvain Francisco and Moses Wright. Carsen Edwards and Jonas Valanciunas will likely be the main players expected to fill that void.
At point guard, Nigel Williams-Goss will be tasked primarily with creating for the rest of the team, so we expect a high number of assists from him this year. Saben Lee and Maodo Lo will provide depth behind him.
Furthermore, Zalgiris will have four incredible shooters this season, and it is difficult to say where the biggest threat will come from. We are, of course, talking about Carsen Edwards, Sterling Brown, Marius Grigonis, and Deividas Sirvydis.
Zalgiris veterans Arnas Butkevicius and Edgaras Ulanovas will be tasked with disrupting the opposition’s offense and knocking down the occasional shot.
At power forward, this could be the season in which Azuolas Tubelis fully establishes himself, while Jonas Valanciunas will be the undisputed leader at center after deciding over the summer to return to European basketball following many years away. Dustin Sleva, Marek Blazevic, and Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu will provide depth behind them.
The Fantasy Star
Jonas Valanciunas – Center – 15.5 credits
Jonas Valanciunas enters the campaign as the marquee centerpiece for Zalgiris and arguably the most dominant low-post anchor in the EuroLeague. Returning to Europe after a 14-year NBA career, the Lithuanian big man gives Zalgiris an elite focal point designed to generate offense inside out. He commands massive usage in the paint, where his physical screen-setting, rim finishing, and back-to-the-basket scoring consistently force opposing frontcourts into early foul trouble.
At a steep 15.5 credits, Valanciunas functions as a premium engine for Fantasy managers seeking elite floor security. Expect him to maximize every shift through relentless work on the glass. Rather than relying on volatile perimeter shooting, his fantasy value stems directly from field goal efficiency, high-volume rebound totals, and drawn fouls at the free-throw line.
He projects a rock-solid floor, with a ceiling that comfortably surpasses 30+ PIR when exploiting advantageous frontcourt matchups. His Round 1 fixture against Crvena Zvezda represents a prime target area, as the Belgrade side faces notable defensive vulnerabilities in center depth.
While the 15.5 credit price tag demands significant capital, Valanciunas possesses the production and double-double consistency to justify top-tier expenditure every single week.
Best Value Pick
Azuolas Tubelis – Forward – 11.1 credits
Azuolas Tubelis presents one of the most compelling value propositions on the EuroLeague Fantasy market entering the new season. Following a breakout stretch in the Lithuanian League and authoritative displays for his national team, the 24-year-old power forward has transitioned from an intriguing prospect into a proven focal point.
Equipped with a deep offensive skill set, he scores fluidly through high-low baseline cuts, soft face-up touch, and relentless secondary rim runs. The fantasy market has underpriced Tubelis by failing to account for his projected role elevation.
At 11.1 credits, he steps into a Zalgiris frontcourt where competition for power forward minutes is minimal, clearing a direct runway for him to log 25+ minutes per game. Rather than operating as a spot-up passenger, his versatility ensures consistent involvement in primary set actions.
If Tubelis maintains his efficiency while active on the defensive glass, he can realistically deliver a stable Fantasy performance. That level of production severely outpaces his 11.1 credit price tag, creating an ideal scenario for early budget appreciation.
The Sleeper
Nigel Williams-Goss – Guard – 9.7 credits
Following the departure of Sylvain Francisco, Nigel Williams-Goss steps into an expanded role as the primary playmaker for Zalgiris. The 30-year-old veteran guard brings proven EuroLeague pedigree, having logged high-level postseason minutes for contenders like Real Madrid and Olympiacos before establishing his floor leadership in Kaunas. With elite finishing targets in Jonas Valanciunas and Azuolas Tubelis surrounded by sharp perimeter shooters, Williams-Goss operates with complete operational control of the offense.
At 9.7 credits, his elevated usage projections offer prime differential value. He projects to average over 25 minutes per game, serving as both a steady scoring threat and the focal point of pick-and-roll creation.
If Williams-Goss leverages his supreme pick-and-roll IQ to dish out 5 to 6 assists nightly while maintaining his trademark mid-range efficiency, he can comfortably lock in a baseline PIR average of 12 to 16. That level of steady output yields tremendous value relative to his sub-10.0 credit price tag, providing Fantasy managers with an under-the-radar guard pick primed for low-ownership upside and consistent value growth.
The Trap
Saben Lee – Guard – 8.6 credits
Saben Lee emerges as the player to avoid in Zalgiris’ backcourt rotation for the upcoming EuroLeague Fantasy season. The 27-year-old American guard arrived in Kaunas over the summer following stints with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Olympiacos, and Anadolu Efes. While his athletic profile and past scoring bursts in short-term roles might draw interest, his current Fantasy circumstances present far too many operational red flags to justify investment.
At an 8.6 credit valuation, Lee is priced uncomfortably high given the crowded backcourt dynamic in Kaunas. He faces intense internal competition for playing time, with veteran leader Nigel Williams-Goss running the offense alongside proven EuroLeague perimeter options like Maodo Lo, Carsen Edwards, and Marius Grigonis. This logjam severely limits Lee’s usage rate and caps his projected floor to single-digit minutes.
Compounding his rotational hurdles, Lee recently suffered a hamstring strain during preseason action, sidelining him for several weeks right as the season approaches. Navigating a hamstring recovery compromises his early conditioning and renders his starting availability highly questionable.
Paying 8.6 credits for an injured guard trapped in a tight rotation offers virtually zero financial upside and a high probability of negative PIR output, making Lee an obvious trap before Round 1.
