Daniel Theis, Monaco’s center, is now Asvel’s new top target, as the French club continues its push to lure players away from other EuroLeague teams.
Basket News reports that Daniel Theis has become Asvel’s number one priority and that the two sides are currently in serious negotiations. Moreover, the team, now coached by Tony Parker, is considered the leading candidate to sign the German center.
The long-time NBA player is set to enter the market this summer and is expected to leave Monaco, while Asvel are offering strong financial terms as well as a starting center role.
Asvel have reportedly prepared a budget of between €25–30 million for player and coaching salaries for next season, and they are said to have already secured the arrivals of Sylvain Francisco and Armoni Brooks, with the focus now shifting to frontcourt reinforcements. They are also in contact with former player Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, who has significantly developed his game.
Theis is currently injured and has not played for Monaco for some time. Last EuroLeague season, he averaged 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds.
There were already talks last season about his departure due to other offers, but he then had a guaranteed contract with Monaco, who were unwilling to let him go.
