Boban Marjanovic remains remembered as one of the most beloved personalities in the NBA, but the towering center also holds the official NBA record for the fastest double-double in league history.
Ever since the NBA officially began tracking detailed play-by-play statistics during the 1996-97 season, no player in history has achieved a double-double faster than Boban Marjanovic, who accomplished this historic milestone in just 8 minutes and 13 seconds of action.
While racking up double digits in two statistical categories typically demands at least 20 to 30 minutes of floor time for most NBA players, Marjanovic proved in January 2017 what an overwhelming offensive and rebounding force he could be in limited minutes.

A stat-producing machine in minimal playing time
Throughout his NBA career, with stints playing for the San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, and Houston Rockets, Marjanovic was widely recognized for posting some of the highest per-minute efficiency ratings in league history. Whenever he stepped onto the hardwood, his interior dominance was instantaneous.
His historic performance on January 5, 2017, wearing a Detroit Pistons uniform against the Charlotte Hornets, earned a permanent place in basketball folklore. In just eight minutes and 13 seconds on the court, Marjanovic accumulated double digits in both points and rebounds, establishing an NBA record that remains untouched to this day.
Elite Center Company and the Push from the Younger Generation
A look at the fastest double-doubles over the last three decades reveals the legendary players and MVP candidates who remain behind the Serbian center. The closest contender to Marjanovic’s record is Lithuanian center Jonas Valanciunas, who logged a double-double in 8 minutes and 26 seconds on April 7, 2025. Valanciunas actually appears on this elite list twice, having also posted a 9-minute and 5-second double-double on January 11, 2018. Right behind him sits French prodigy Victor Wembanyama, who recorded a double-double in 8 minutes and 31 seconds on March 30, 2026.
The rest of the top ten fastest double-doubles in modern NBA history showcases an impressive lineup of dominant big men. Alperen Sengun reached the mark in 8:39 on October 23, 2024, followed by Rudy Gobert at 8:48 on December 21, 2019, and Andre Drummond at 9:03 on March 16, 2022. Rounding out the elite group are Dwight Howard with a 9:28 mark on February 22, 2018, multi-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo at 9:38 on February 20, 2020, and Joel Embiid at 9:51 on February 11, 2022.
