Fenerbahce produced one of the most wild offseasons in recent memory, cementing themselves as one of the main favorites to win the EuroLeague next season, and one of Sarunas Jasikevicius’ primary weapons could be their squad depth.
After winning the EuroLeague in the 2024/25 season, Fenerbahce fell to Olympiacos in the Final Four semifinals last season. That defeat prompted the club to make sweeping changes this summer, adding proven stars in a bid to reclaim the European title under Sarunas Jasikevicius.
Perhaps their most critical move was bringing in versatile players who can cover multiple positions while drastically expanding bench depth – ensuring Jasikevicius has a reliable solution for whatever challenges arise this season.

Summer signings: Nine new players join
One of the biggest surprises in this year’s EuroLeague transfer market arrived with Shane Larkin’s move from Anadolu Efes to Fenerbahce. The American guard with a Turkish passport led Anadolu Efes to back-to-back EuroLeague titles just a few years ago, and now he will attempt to climb back to the top of Europe with their cross-town rival.
And that was far from the end, as a total of nine players signed with the Turkish powerhouse this summer. At the forward positions, proven EuroLeague stars Will Clyburn and Shavon Shields arrived, with the former Milano forward in particular expected to make a massive impact on both ends of the floor.
Fenerbahce’s perimeter overhaul didn’t stop there. Trent Forrest decided to relocate to Istanbul following a breakout campaign with Baskonia, while Johnny Juzang arrived to bolster the depth. Additionally, Ignas Sargiunas signed as a versatile piece capable of contributing across multiple lineups.
When paired with last season’s primary perimeter anchors, Talen Horton-Tucker and Wade Baldwin, it becomes crystal clear that Fenerbahce is gearing up to fire on all cylinders next season.
Fenerbahce’s calculated moves continued in the frontcourt. Braxton Key, who served as a key contributor during Valencia’s strong run last season, now arrives to solidify the paint.
Marcus Bingham and Sertac Sanli will each bring their own unique brand of quality and veteran experience to the interior, while Chris Silva remains a vital piece after joining mid-season from AEK.
| Player | Previous Team |
| Shane Larkin | Anadolu Efes |
| Will Clyburn | Barcelona |
| Shavon Shields | Milano |
| Trent Forrest | Baskonia |
| Johnny Juzang | Zenit |
| Ignas Sargiunas | Rytas |
| Braxton Key | Valencia |

How Jasikevicius cleared roster space to upgrade Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce also experienced a high volume of departures this summer – 11 in total. However, not all of them left an equal void, and Jasikevicius appears to have filled the gaps successfully.
The biggest blow to the roster was the departure of Tarik Biberovic to the Dallas Mavericks, as the naturalized Turkish international had developed into one of European basketball’s elite shooters over recent seasons.
Devon Hall was instrumental in their 2024/25 EuroLeague title run, but he has returned to Milano. Furthermore, the exits of Khem Birch – who was outstanding in the second half of last season – Bonzie Colson, and Nando De Colo, who officially retired, freed up the roster space Fenerbahce needed to evolve.
On the other hand, players like Arturs Zagars, Brandon Boston Jr, Mikael Jantunen, Armando Bacot, and Jilson Bango fell short of expectations. In addition to those departures, Metecan Birsen also left the club.
| Player | Next Team / Status |
| Tarik Biberovic | Dallas Mavericks |
| Devon Hall | Milano |
| Khem Birch | Aris |
| Bonzie Colson | Maccabi Tel Aviv |
| Nando De Colo | Retired |
| Arturs Zagars | Free Agent |
| Brandon Boston Jr. | Free Agent |
| Mikael Jantunen | Real Madrid |
| Armando Bacot | Free Agent |
| Jilson Bango | Free Agent |
| Metecan Birsen | Besiktas |
Fenerbahce upgrades offense around top defense
Fenerbahce boasted by far the EuroLeague’s best defense last season, posting a defensive rating of 111.9, which served as the primary catalyst for their success. However, their true vulnerabilities surfaced on the offensive end.
With an offensive rating of 114.1, they ranked as the sixth-worst offense in the competition – leaving massive room for improvement. Yet, Fenerbahce appears to have addressed that glaring weakness head-on by bringing in elite, high-level scoring options like Larkin, Clyburn, and Shields.
