Fenerbahce will travel to Piraeus to face Olympiacos in a rescheduled 14th-round EuroLeague clash on March 17 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium, EuroLeague officials have confirmed.
The game was originally postponed due to flooding in Piraeus, which forced Olympiacos to delay the match.
Following the postponement, Fenerbahce raised concerns and even suggested alternative solutions to ensure the match could take place.
“Two hours before the scheduled tip-off, EuroLeague officials informed us that the game was canceled due to a safety decision by the Greek government because of the weather and that it would be rescheduled. We immediately contacted the authorities and even suggested playing the game the following day. Our proposal was rejected because teams from the same city, Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, cannot play two games on the same day”, Fenerbahce GM, Cam Ciritci said adding that Fenerbahce would watch closely how the situation unfolds and has already submitted an official complaint to EuroLeague regarding the cancellation.
With the issue now resolved, both sides will meet on the new date under proper conditions.
