Gabriel Deck suffered an injury during the game against Canada.
The Canadian national basketball team defeated Argentina 97-92 in an exciting clash in the FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers in the Americas. The Canadians maintained their perfect record with the victory and officially secured their place at the FIBA World Cup, but the game was also marked by a worrying shoulder injury suffered by Real Madrid forward Gabriel Deck.
Atlanta Hawks duo decides the game, concern for Real Madrid and Argentina
The winning team was led to its eighth consecutive victory by two Atlanta Hawks teammates. Nickeil Alexander-Walker was Canada’s leading scorer with 26 points, while Lu Dort added 25. For Argentina, Nicolas Laprovittola was outstanding with 31 points, while Nicolas Brussino contributed 11, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.
However, the biggest blow for Argentina, as well as Real Madrid’s coaching staff, was Gabriel Deck’s shoulder injury. After an impressive performance against Puerto Rico, in which he contributed 23 points, the experienced forward was forced to leave the court early. The length of his absence will only be known after he undergoes detailed medical examinations.
Standings
With this victory, Canada improved to a perfect 8-0 record, comfortably remaining at the top of the standings and securing its place at the World Cup. Argentina and Uruguay follow with 6-2 records, while the Bahamas sit in fourth place at 4-4.
