Galatasaray are in very poor form, considering they have lost their last three games in the Turkish Super League. They were beaten by Anadolu Efes 92–84, then by Trabzonspor 101–89, and in the previous round they also suffered an away defeat against Manisa, losing 86–75. Galatasaray currently hold a 7–7 record and are tied for eighth place in the Turkish Super League standings.

Galatasaray have the sixth-worst defense in the league, which diminishes the impact of the obvious offensive talent they possess, as they are still the sixth most efficient offensive team in the Turkish Super League. Charismatic Italian head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco has recently taken over the team, and he is expected to bring his trademark energy to a squad that has been producing poor results and appears to lack confidence in its own abilities. That is not the only change in the Istanbul-based club, as Vladimir Micov has also recently assumed the role of sporting director. At the moment, Galatasaray have an experienced roster led by James Palmer, who is clearly the team’s best player and leading scorer. While Jonah Mathews can be considered the best and most consistent player on the team – scoring 17, 16, 20, 21, 12, and 18 points over his last six games – the strong performance of former Partizan guard Anthony Brown is particularly encouraging, as he had struggled in recent outings. Besiktas boast the best defense in the Turkish Super League and allow the fewest points in the competition, and that defensive quality has helped them secure wins in several recent games, such as against Tofas (73–72) and Petkim Spor (75–72), even when their offensive execution was far from impressive.
