Trapani picked up their third win of the season in the FIBA Champions League, edging Tenerife 83–80 on the road in the fifth round of Group D.
Trapani ended Tenerife’s 31-game home winning streak in FIBA Champions League.
The key point to note in this matchup is that Marcelinho Huertas, Tenerife’s top player, did not play, which clearly affected the final outcome. On the other hand, Trapani faced numerous issues, as head coach Jasmin Repesa submitted his resignation, which the board rejected, but he nevertheless left the team. Additionally, captain Amar Alibegovic decided to leave Trapani due to delayed salary payments.
Despite the result, Tenerife will remain in first place in the group. They had already beaten Trapani on the road by six points, so even with this three-point loss, they advance directly to the next stage of the competition.
It was a thrilling contest in Spain. Trapani held a double-digit lead entering the final quarter, but Tenerife staged a late comeback. Despite their push, the hosts could not avoid defeat.

The visitors were led by JD Notae, who scored 23 points, while Jordan Ford contributed 14, two more than Matthew Hurt and Adama Sanogo. For Tenerife, Jaime Fernandez led the way with 16 points, with Giorgi Shermadini adding 13.
In the final round, Txus Vidorreta’s team will visit Bnei Herzliya, while Trapani travels to face Tofas in a clash that will decide second and third place in Group D.
