Asvel’s turbulent summer
Asvel is coming off a very turbulent summer after initial plans fell through. A major budget increase to €59 million had been announced before major shifts occurred after the DNCG refused to approve a Malaysia-based partner
Now, the budget for the 2026/27 season is expected to remain around €24 million. Many players were recruited based on the projected budget but have since left the club, including Sylvain Francisco, Armoni Brooks, Daniel Theis, and Nick Weiler-Babb. Mbaye Ndiaye, who had extended his contract this summer, has also left for Olympiacos for an estimated €400,000 buyout.
Asvel has officially announced the arrivals of Patty Mills, Joel Bolomboy, Nate Sestina, Jae Crowder and Myles Cale.
