Former NBA star and fan favorite of the Boston Celtics, Isaiah Thomas, posted an intriguing message on social media.
The veteran 5-foot-9 point guard publicly expressed his desire to test his skills on the Old Continent and experience the unique atmosphere of European basketball.
Thomas took to his Twitter (X) profile with a brief yet impactful message:
“I want to hoop overseas for a year!!! I want that experience! And to cook them boys over that water!”

Beverley’s warning: “Certain NBA stars couldn’t play in Europe”
This announcement comes just a day after sharp words from Patrick Beverley. The former NBA player, who knows both American and European basketball inside out, recently stated publicly that transitioning across the Atlantic is no easy feat. Speaking on how today’s top NBA superstars would fare in European competitions, Beverley offered a very candid assessment:
“They have no idea. That is no disrespect to anybody’s physical game and what they can do on the floor, but it is a mindset thing. There are NBA superstars right now who straight up could not play in Europe. I truly believe that. They just couldn’t.”
Recent NBA stints and the search for a new challenge
Although Isaiah Thomas was one of the most unstoppable scorers in the world during the prime of his career, his playing time has decreased significantly in recent years, leaving him mostly searching for a veteran role off the bench. His most recent NBA stint came in a Phoenix Suns jersey. During that short stay in Arizona, he appeared in 6 games, averaging 1.3 points and 0.5 assists in limited floor time.

New chapter with the Boston Celtics
While he remains interested in the prospect of playing overseas, Thomas has transitioned into a new chapter off the court. He recently rejoined the Boston Celtics organization, accepting a role as a pro and college scout to evaluate prospective talent for the franchise where he enjoyed his iconic All-Star seasons.
