    Israel Team News

Israel defeated Portugal 84-78 on neutral ground in their previous game, securing their fourth win in the group and improving their record to 4-1. The key contributors to this victory were Bar Timor with 15 points and Gur Lavi with 14 points, although the team had already secured their EuroBasket spot before this round.

Israel has played brilliantly throughout the qualifiers, although not without issues, such as their previous encounter with Portugal, where they barely won away 72-70. Nevertheless, they secured their place in the continental championship, allowing some of their key players to rest during this window. In the game against Portugal, we didn’t see Yam Madar, Roman Sorkin, Tamir Blatt, and other players from the EuroCup or EuroLeague, to avoid disrupting their club rhythm unnecessarily. Despite this, Israel outplayed Portugal and secured another victory, even though the opponent needed the win to guarantee their EuroBasket spot. However, that didn’t happen; instead, the spot was secured by Portugal’s win over Ukraine, and Israel’s victory against Slovenia. In the mentioned match, Israel took control in the second quarter, winning it 29-14, and fully seized control of the game. Although there were ups and downs until the end, Israel managed to maintain their lead and win in a game that didn’t have much significance for them, unlike for their opponents. The nominal home team shot well from distance – 10/19, which shows that they didn’t force things but instead looked for open positions and played smartly to execute those opportunities. A negative aspect was the 19 turnovers, but that didn’t stop them from winning. Gur Lavi, who was making his debut in these qualifiers, particularly impressed.

In the upcoming match, Israel should again play rationally if they want to beat a quality opponent while also finding a way to better control the tempo and reduce turnovers. Against Portugal, this might have worked, but in the upcoming encounter, the Slovenians will likely not forgive such mistakes.

    Slovenia Team News

Slovenia defeated Ukraine 84-71 as the nominal away team in their previous game, securing their fourth victory in the qualifiers and now holding a 4-1 record. The key players in this triumph against the former European champions were Gregor Hrovat with 22 points and Ziga Daneu with 13, which was more than enough.

Naturally, Slovenia did not come with their strongest lineup to the last qualification window since they had already secured their EuroBasket spot earlier, just like their upcoming opponent. Slovenia started the qualifiers strong, but then faced two very tough games against Portugal. They lost the first, and barely won the second, which brought them closer to the continental championship. It has not been easy for them in the previous months, but the same is true for all other quality teams that don’t have their best players available. After securing their place, the coaching staff decided to refresh the roster for the last two rounds, so now there are quite a few debutants, along with the most experienced player, Edo Muric, who, to be honest, did not shine against Ukraine in the previous match. This allowed Gregor Hrovat, who transferred his excellent form from the LNB Pro A and Dijon to these qualifiers, to stand out. In the mentioned league, he averages 13.3 points and is one of the most consistent players in that jersey, while against Ukraine, he scored 22 points and was an unsolvable problem for the opponent’s defense, allowing him to hit four three-pointers out of six attempts. It was also a game in which Slovenia played great defense, limiting their opponent to just 71 points with very poor shooting percentages, especially from beyond the arc.

In the upcoming match, Slovenia will need to play with the same intensity as they did against Ukraine if they hope to outplay Israel. Their next opponent has proven that they play very seriously even when a game doesn’t have significant results for them, which is the case for Slovenia as well, so aggression will be at the highest level.

    Israel vs Slovenia H2H

In the last five encounters, Israel leads 3-2.

    Absences and Injuries

Roman Sorkin, Tamir Blatt, Yam Madar, Tomer Ginat, Khadeen Carrington, and other key starters will not play for Israel, while Luka Doncic, Josh Nebo, Klemen Prepelic, Jaka Blazic, and others will not be available for Slovenia, considering the best players, while reserves Rok Radovic and Tibor Mirtic have had injury issues.

    Israel vs Slovenia Prediction

In the matchup between Israel and Slovenia, we can expect a relaxed style of basketball, but at the same time, there could be a lot of intensity. The reason is that both teams played quite physically in their previous encounter, even though the result didn’t carry much significance. Therefore, our prediction is that it will be the same this time around—both teams will do everything they can to limit their opponent offensively, which should result in a lower total score.
