Ivan Vranes was stopped by police in the early hours of May 24, when it was determined that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.64 promille.
This happened one day after his team secured a place in the semifinals of the Lithuanian Basketball League.
The penalty for drivers with a blood alcohol level between 0.41 and 1.15 promille in Lithuania ranges from €800 to €1,100, which he was required to pay. The situation was also commented on by the club’s director, Eimantas Skersis.
“Did we fine him? Yes, we gave him a bicycle… Seriously, we gave him a bicycle,” Skersis told BasketNews.
Vranes has been playing very well this season for Juventus.
He is averaging 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, while his team leads 2-1 in the semifinal series against Neptunas and is one win away from reaching the final.
