Japan vs Indonesia Preview
Even though they are the host nation of the Asian Games, the Japanese federation will be using this tournament as an experimental polygon. They will intentionally play with their entire B team without all of their main stars. Their team will be led by their second-choice import Alex Kirk along with unproven and young domestic talents. Realistically, with this kind of a lineup, Japan will even have a tough time progressing from the group, while winning a medal will be an impossible task. Winning a medal is not the main goal of this Japanese team, which has enough to compete with some teams, but they should lose by a double-digit margin against the main title favourites. Today in the opener against Indonesia, one would think they would cruise to a victory even with their B team at home, but that will not be the case since Indonesia have brought a highly talented and star-studded roster to Nagoya. We would even go so far to say that Indonesia are even better currently compared to this young B squad of Japan, so it will be more than intriguing to see what happens today.
Japan have to be more than content if they progress to the knockout stage. However, with their weak team, that will be a pretty difficult task against strong and solid teams like South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, who are the main dark horses in this tournament in our opinion.
At first glance, the majority of people would think that Indonesia are the main outsiders in the Asian Games, but that is not the case. The Indonesian federation has managed to put together their best basketball team in history led by four strong naturalized imports and the best domestic players. The main names on their roster are Lester Prosper, Derrick Xzavierro, Dame Diagne and Anthony Beane along with domestic stalwarts like Yudha Saputera and Andakara Prastawa. The Indonesian team has been preparing for the Asian Games for an extensive period and recently participated in the Asia Cup Pre-Qualifiers, where they managed to progress to the next stage, but suffered embarrassing and humiliating losses to Hong Kong and Malaysia. However, those losses are a product of not playing with their strongest team as they only had two imports in that qualifying window and were also missing a couple of important domestic players. Now in the Asian Games, they look more than formidable and we think they have a good chance of upsetting Japan today and progressing to the knockout stages.
Indonesia look scary on paper and if things fall into place, they could have a dream run in this tournament. They look more than capable of taking down Japan and Saudi Arabia in this group stage, so we think we might witness the first upset of the Asian Games this Thursday in Nagoya.

Where to Watch Japan vs Indonesia?
Japan vs Indonesia Best Betting Tip and Prediction
If Japan were playing today´s match with their strongest roster against the old lineup of Indonesia with only two imports, then this would be a massive blowout in favour of the hosts. However, Japan are heavily shorthanded with their B team, while Indonesia are parading four quality imports and their best domestic players. That is why we opted for Indonesia to cover the spread.
