Jilson Bango and Fenerbahce have parted ways after an unsuccessful partnership, mainly due to the center’s injuries.
He arrived during the previous season from Zaragoza, where he was posting impressive numbers of 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in 18 games. At that time, Fenerbahce had a large number of injured players, and in need of a center they signed him.
Zaragoza received around 600,000 euros in compensation, while Jilson Bango signed a two-and-a-half-year contract.
However, what happened during AfroBasket right before the start of the season ruined the year for the Angolan center. He suffered an ACL tear at the end of August, which forced him to miss the entire 2025/2026 season, making the separation a logical outcome.
According to agent Misko Raznatovic, he is now a free agent and is expected to be fully ready to return to the court in four weeks. It remains to be seen which club will take the risk of signing him, especially after such a serious injury and long absence, as there are questions about his condition and what he can currently offer.
