Partizan head coach Joan Penarroya says the club is still looking to strengthen its roster ahead of the new season, with the Spanish coach confirming that the team wants to add one or two more players.
The Serbian club underwent significant changes over the summer, and Joan Penarroya says the transfer market has made the process particularly challenging.
“The market was very difficult for us, especially this summer. It was crazy because of the large number of teams. However, at this moment I am satisfied with our roster. I think we have good players, experience, but also players who are new at this level, have talent and want to improve.”

Partizan still looking to add players
Despite his satisfaction with the current roster, Penarroya made it clear that Partizan’s offseason work is not finished.
“The market is very, very difficult at the moment. Clearly, because I already said that we need to add one or two players. At the moment we only have 13 professional players on the roster, so we need to bring in more players. But we have to find good players, and the market is not easy at the moment.”
Penarroya says he remains closely involved in the club’s work on the market, with discussions taking place on a daily basis.
“It is normal that I am in daily contact with the club and we talk about all the specific situations. It is not the moment to explain every detail. Clearly, we worked a lot throughout the summer, and we also had problems because some players decided to sign with other clubs. However, I think we are trying to do a good job. Communication with the people at the club is good.”
Joan Penarroya still building Partizan’s new identity
With a heavily revamped roster, Penarroya knows that having the necessary pieces on paper is only the beginning. The next step is turning a group of new and returning players into a team.
“At the moment we still don’t have a team. We are trying to build the real team and our new character. We want to show the fans in a few days what our character is and how we want to compete. I am satisfied because we have trained very well over the last two weeks, with excellent intensity. The guys are working very well and I think we are in a good moment at the moment.”
The process has been complicated by injuries and players arriving at different stages of the preseason, meaning Joan Penarroya has only recently had most of his roster available together.
“Clearly, we had some problems with the players. Some didn’t play, we had the situation with Kevarius Hayes, there were injuries, and some players arrived later. This is practically the first week when more or less all of us can train together and I think we are in a good moment at the moment.”
