Kendrick Perkins, former NBA player turned analyst, shared his thoughts on the current state of Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
After the Colorado franchise was eliminated in the second round of the NBA Playoffs by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a seven-game series, the former Boston Celtics and Thunder center didn’t hold back in criticizing the Serbian star’s teammates.
The primary targets of his criticism were Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., who, to put it mildly, are not delivering what they’re being paid for – failing to live up to their max contracts.
“What should they be praised for? I’ll give credit to Aaron Gordon, because he went out there with a hamstring injury and gave everything he had. But I’m not going to praise Denver for getting bounced in the second round when they have the best player in the world, Nikola Jokic,” said Kendrick Perkins, and continued:
“The Denver Nuggets are not doing Nikola Jokic any favors right now. When you have players like Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Steph Curry, LeBron James… every offseason you need to do everything possible to bring in the necessary pieces so he has a real chance to win another NBA title.
And I think this summer they’ll have to make some tough decisions, starting with Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.. Those two have to go…”
