Auburn forward KeShawn Murphy delivered an emotional message to fans shortly after the Tigers’ SEC Tournament loss that damaged their NCAA Tournament hopes.
KeShawn Murphy posted the message on X (formerly Twitter) late Thursday night. In the post, he thanked Auburn supporters and reflected on what it means to represent the program.
“Auburn family I just wanted to say that in or out, I understand what it means to wear this jersey every night and I’m sorry things didn’t go exactly how we all wanted, but I’m more than grateful”.
The post quickly gained attention among Auburn fans online. Many supporters replied with messages of encouragement and appreciation for the forward’s effort throughout the season.
KeShawn Murphy was one of the most important players on the Auburn team this season
And KeShawn Murphy has been one of the emotional leaders on the Auburn roster this year. His energy, rebounding, and defensive intensity often set the tone for the Tigers in key moments. Because of that, his message resonated strongly with the Auburn community.
The timing of the post also reflects the frustration surrounding Auburn’s postseason outlook. After losing to Tennessee in the SEC Tournament, the Tigers’ chances of reaching the NCAA Tournament became extremely slim. ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi even said the program no longer has a realistic path into the field.
Despite the disappointment, Murphy’s message focused on gratitude rather than frustration. He emphasized pride in wearing the Auburn jersey and appreciation for the fan support throughout the season.
For Auburn fans, the message served as a reminder of the passion players bring to the program every night they step on the court.
