Catalan powerhouse officially revealed the jersey numbers for their numerous new roster additions, while also making a landmark decision that enters the club’s history books, naming Kevin Punter as the new team captain.
Historic role for Punter: “I want to lead by example”
Following the departure of Tomas Satoransky, the top captaincy role in the locker room has been awarded to the former Partizan fan favorite. Joining him in the on-court leadership group are Joel Parra and Dario Brizuela, who have been named vice-captains:
“For me, it is a huge honor to be the captain of Barcelona. It’s not very common, especially when it comes to foreign players. When the coach made the proposal, I accepted it. I really want to be an example. I don’t like telling my teammates what to do, I’m not that type of guy, I prefer leading by example. Alongside me I’ll have Joel and Dario, who will help me in many ways. This is a matter of pride, and I am extremely happy.”

Only the second American in the club’s century-long history to wear the band
Leadership responsibilities are nothing new for Punter. During his three-year tenure with Partizan from 2021 to 2024, he served as team captain for his final two seasons.
With this appointment, Punter becomes the 31st captain in the complete history of Barcelona. He is only the second player from the United States to be entrusted with the role in over a century of club history, the first being Norman Carmichael between October 1973 and February 1975, and just the fifth foreign player overall to lead Barcelona, following Carmichael, Ante Tomic, Nikola Mirotic, and Tomas Satoransky.
Roster updates: Jersey numbers assigned for newcomers and veterans
