Klemen Prepelic shared his thoughts on Luka Doncic, Dubai’s ambitions and the coaches who shaped his career in an interview with Sport Klub.
The Slovenian guard described Luka Doncic as “a phenomenon” and “a talent that is born once every 50 years” while reflecting on his two years with the ambitious EuroLeague project.
Prepelic on Doncic: A talent that is born once every 50 years
During his career, Klemen Prepelic had the opportunity to share the court and training sessions with some of the biggest names in basketball. However, when asked which player impressed him the most, his answer was clear – Luka Doncic.
“Honestly – Luka Doncic. I never had the chance to guard him in an official game, but during practices I saw all the magic he can produce. He is a unique player and, in my opinion, the best player in the world.”
Asked to describe Doncic in five words, Prepelic admitted that it was almost impossible to summarize the Slovenian superstar.
“It is impossible to do it in five words. He is a phenomenon, he is a maniac, haha. Like I said, for me he is the best player in the world – dominant in every aspect and a talent that is born once every 50 years. On top of that, he is a fantastic person and a true leader who supports his teammates and brings the team together. He is the player and the person I found easiest to work with.”

Klemen Prepelic believes Dubai can become a EuroLeague powerhouse
Speaking about his two years in Dubai, Klemen Prepelic highlighted the strong foundation behind the club’s rapid development and praised the people responsible for building the project.
“The biggest impression is that we are a big family and that Dubai is a club being built on healthy foundations, with people who know what they are doing, led by Dejan Kamenjasevic. On top of that, the owner is a very reasonable person who is willing to invest his own money and has big ambitions.”
“At the same time, we have taken things step by step, and in two years we have managed to win the ABA League title and reach the EuroLeague.”
Prepelic believes the club has already created something special, pointing to the atmosphere during the ABA League Finals against Partizan as one of the biggest moments of the project so far.
“The biggest success, in my opinion, was seeing 12,000 people in the arena against Partizan in the second game of the final series. I also played for Real Madrid, but the conditions in Dubai are on a completely different level. I believe we can become a dynasty that could one day win the EuroLeague.”
The teammates and coaches who shaped his career
Looking back at his career, Prepelic also highlighted Nemanja Dangubic as the teammate who left the biggest impression on him.
“Definitely Nemanja Dangubic. He is someone you simply cannot dislike – always positive, always there to offer the right advice and help you get on the right path. I see Dangubic as a brother.”
When discussing the coaches who had the biggest influence on his development, Klemen Prepelic named three important figures.
“My top three are Dusko Vujosevic, Zmago Sagadin and Igor Kokoskov. They gave me a lot, gave me the opportunity to become the player I am and helped me improve my game and develop my career.”
