We are heading into Round 20 of Liga Endesa, and Basketball Sphere brings you a full report on all injuries and absences across the league.
The information is based on the latest updates from the official Liga Endesa website.
Barcelona: The Blaugrana team played a EuroLeague game on Thursday, a match missed due to injury by Kevin Punter and Tomas Satoransky, adding to the absence of Juan Nunez. Furthermore, during the game, Jan Vesely asked to be substituted and left the court with discomfort at the start of the third quarter.
Girona: The club announced on Friday that Juan Fernandez has a minor tear in the plantar fascia of his right foot. In the pre-game press conference, Moncho Fernandez stated:
“The good news was Maxi Fjellerup’s return to the Palau Blaugrana because of what he brings to the team. The bad news is Juan’s injury, especially given his position. We’ll have to find tactical solutions within the team to replace him.”
Manresa: Coach Diego Ocampo will still be without Hugo Benitez, Retin Obasohan, and Pauly Paulicap, who are injured.
Zaragoza: Trae Bell-Haynes, who is in recovery after undergoing surgery for a hand injury, is the only confirmed absence for Saturday’s game against Joventut.
Granada: The Granada club announced the signing of Javan Johnson on Friday, although they confirmed it is highly unlikely he will be available to play this weekend. Furthermore, ahead of the match, Arturo Ruiz explained:
“We had to rest William Howard for a couple of days, but he has already trained with the team and will be available for the game. On the other hand, Lluis Costa is very committed to this team and will try to be with them tomorrow, so we will include him in the squad.”
Gran Canaria: Pending confirmation from the club.
Lleida: Gerard Encuentra will be able to count on his entire squad to play the game on Sunday against Girona.
Baskonia: The Vitoria team plays this Friday in a EuroLeague game, for which, in the pre-game press conference, Paolo Galbiati explained that the entire team, except for Tadas Sedekerskis, who continues his recovery, is in good shape.
Tenerife: In the Aurinegro team, the only absence for the match against Rio Breogan will be the already known one of Marcelinho Huertas.
Andorra: Zan Tabak, speaking ahead of their match against Valencia, explained:
“Kyle Kuric is training, but I don’t know if he’ll play because he’s recovering from an injury and we don’t know what condition he’ll be in for this game.” Long-term injury absentee Xavier Castaneda will definitely be unavailable.
Real Madrid: The Whites play a EuroLeague game this Thursday. Ahead of the game, Sergio Scariolo confirmed,
“We are all traveling to Belgrade and I expect all the players to be available. Both Theo Maledon and Gabriel Deck may be able to play tomorrow, although with a limited number of minutes.”
San Pablo Burgos: Porfi Fisac will still not be able to count on Dani Diez, who is recovering from foot fascia surgery.
Breogan: Luis Casimiro, speaking before the game, explained:
“Bakary Dibba hasn’t participated in any training sessions,” so he could be unavailable for the game against Tenerife. “I’m happy with the team’s performance, considering we were down a player in the rotation.”
Bilbao: Stefan Lazarevic and Amar Sylla will be out for the derby that Bilbao will play on Sunday against Baskonia.
Murcia: Ahead of the game against Manresa, Sito Alonso stated:
“We’ve tried to be consistent with our approach to European games and left four players in Murcia who we felt needed to rest. Raieste, after his ankle injury, will test himself today. We believe he’ll be able to play, but he hasn’t touched the court during his time in Murcia, so we’ll have to see how he is. It’s also been good for Cacok, Ennis, and DeJulius not to make this trip. I think they’ve done a good job these past few days.”
Unicaja: This Friday, ahead of the game, Ibon Navarro explained:
“There isn’t much news regarding the players who were already injured. Alberto Diaz continues his recovery process; Killian Tillie has tried to maintain good muscle tone, waiting for the pain in his knee that prevents him from playing to subside; and Olek Balcerowski (who injured his calf in the European game) underwent tests and there’s nothing serious, but right now he can’t walk normally and is doubtful.”
He also confirmed that Chase Audige will not be available on Sunday against Real Madrid because he has permission from the club to attend his mother’s funeral, who recently passed away.
Valencia: The Orange team played a EuroLeague game this Thursday, in which the coach was able to count on his entire squad, despite having several players with minor physical problems.
