American point guard Lorenzo Brown arrived in Milano last summer, but he will not look back fondly on his stint with the Italian powerhouse. Still, he is not considering retirement just yet.
Lorenzo Brown arrived as a major signing under then-head coach Ettore Messina, an addition expected to pair up with new recruits like Marko Guduric, as well as guards already on the roster such as Armoni Brooks, Leandro Bolmaro, and Quinn Ellis.
However, once Giuseppe Poeta took over the bench, Brown received fewer and fewer opportunities, ultimately leading to the 35-year-old being removed from the team entirely by late January.
“Together with the club, we decided that Lorenzo Brown is no longer part of this project”, the Milano coach said at the time.

In the meantime, new interested clubs have emerged, but the point guard has not yet signed with any of them. Speaking on the Count Me Out podcast, he explained that while he is not planning to end his career just yet, the end is not too far off.
“I want to play at least two more years. Two, and if I’m lucky, three”, he said.
He also touched upon the void professional athletes often feel after retiring.
“I think I’ll be fine.”
He added that he gave “basketball everything I had,” and that when the time comes to retire, his desire will be to “go out gracefully.”
He does not yet have a detailed plan for his post-playing years, but he has no desire to join one-on-one competitions or leagues featuring former professionals, such as the BIG3.
“I don’t know, who can say? But right now, I don’t think I’d ever do something like the Big 3 or one-on-one, because I don’t think it’s the type of game for me”, he concluded.
Accomplished career
Lorenzo Brown was selected as the 52nd overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but was waived before the start of the season. He made his NBA debut with the Philadelphia 76ers and went on to play for the Phoenix Suns and Toronto Raptors.
Following a stint in China, he moved to the EuroLeague, where his first club was Crvena Zvezda. He later played for Fenerbahce, UNICS, Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Panathinaikos.
